FAQ

Your resource for all your mineral makeup questions!

Q: Why does Sassy use Bismuth Oxychloride in some eye shadows and blushes?
A: As a company devoted to providing amazing eye and cheek colors, we embrace using a tiny amount of bismuth in a small number of our products. This additive provides a soft, silky sheen and gorgeous skin adhesion. We have never heard of a complaint regarding eye or cheek colors containing bismuth. That said, we only use a very thin coating bonded to a mica platelet, which is then coated with other mineral pigments, resulting in an extremely low percentage of bismuth in some of the eye shadows and blushes. We would never use bismuth in a foundation or face powder, simply because some women experience adverse reactions if bismuth is present in high percentages. We would never add straight bismuth to any of our products. All product ingredients are identified on our website, so if you'd rather avoid this ingredient altogether, we make it easy.

Q: If I can't use Bismuth Oxychloride, how do you prevent cross contamination in products?
A: We have you covered here! While we can't disclose our production methods (trade secrets are what give us an edge), we can tell you that we have developed a mixing process that creates a completely clean environment for each individual batch.

Q: Are Sassy products just repackaged private label formulations?
A: Heavens, no! Our powder products are unique to Sassy. We spent more than a year developing the line. Each color is a custom-blended marvel created in the Sassy design lab. Sassy also does not offer our product line for private label.
